The Creation of Woman

background, texture, cracks

The story of creation is one that has been disputed and dissected throughout history by critics of the Bible and unbelievers, and yet it is not just a story to those of us who truly believe that the Bible is the Word of God.  This is our history.  This part of the Bible answers the questions.  Where do we come from?  What is our purpose here on this earth?  Why did God make the woman?  As I answer these questions, I want to remind you from the beginning that man and woman both have different purposes.  One is not inferior or superior to the other, but each were created with what was necessary to fulfill God’s divine plan here on earth.

Taken out of Man

GENESIS 2:23 AND ADAM SAID, ‘THIS IS NOW BONE OF MY BONES AND FLESH OF MY FLESH: SHE SHALL BE CALLED WOMAN, BECAUSE SHE WAS TAKEN OUT OF MAN.’

Here we can see the basis for the one flesh relationship in marriage.

Created from Dust

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breather into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

1 Corinthians 15:47 The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is of the Lord from heaven.

Here are two passages that tell us that the origin of man is in the dirt.  We use this as an insult, calling someone dirt, and yet that is where we came from, and someday that is where we shall return again

Have a Glorious Image

Genesis 1:26-27 Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him:  Make and female created he them.

Though our beginnings were humble, the image we bear is heavenly.  God has stamped His image on us.  We know God is a spirit, but we are made after His image and likeness.  I don’t know what all of this means, but it goes without saying that we have a glorious image we carry.
